Uneven skin texture is usually caused by a build-up of excess skin cells, these build up on the surface of the skin causing the skin to look dull, and feel rough and bumpy to the touch. Unfortunately, often uneven texture is caused by things that are beyond our control such as Scarring and Keratosis Pilaris (a harmless condition whereby hair follicles become blocked by excess keratin).
It is important to regular exfoliate with wither a physical scrub (Medik8 Pore refining scrub), or chemically with acids (Avant - Glycolic Acid rejuvenating face exfoliator). Both of these methods can improve skin texture. When thinking about uneven skin texture most of us usually can relate to one of the following categories:
-
Dull skin: Skin that is lacking a healthy brightness can be related to aging and sun damage. But can also be pinpointed to dehydration, poor sleep, stress, poor skin care routine and smoking.
-
Rough & Bumpy: Rough and bumpy skin is usually linked genetically, or by scarring and ageing.
-
Large pores: In addition to an oily skin as we age our pores increase and get larger this happens due to a decline in skin tone.
When an uneven skin texture is present on the complexion it can create an undesirable aged appearance upon the skin. This type of skin texture can effect men and women of any age.
