Salicylic Acid is a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA). Oil-soluble, it can penetrate deeper into the pores than an AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) such as Glycolic Acid, to effectively remove dead skin cells and excess sebum. A powerful exfoliator, Salicylic Acid is also antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. It’s often found in topical skincare products (and chemical peels) designed to decongest pores and target breakouts and acne. Salicylic Acid can also target pigmentation caused by acne spots, and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
